Ingredients: 

For the Stromboli:

  • 1 sourdough pizza crust
  • 1 cup pizza sauce (of choice)
  • 1/2 cup Swiss cheese, shredded or sliced
  • 1/2 cup Muenster cheese, shredded or sliced
  • deli meats of choice (e.g., salami, pepperoni, turkey, ham), sliced 
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 sweet onion, thinly sliced

For the Garlic Butter:

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Onions:

    • Slice the red onion and sweet onion.
    • Toast the slices in a pan over medium heat for about 3 minutes, until softened and slightly caramelized.
  2. Assemble the Stromboli:

    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Spread pizza sauce evenly over one side of each piece of sourdough pizza crust.
    • On one piece of crust, layer the deli meats and shredded Swiss and Muenster cheeses on top of the sauce.
    • Scatter the toasted onions over the meats and cheese.
    • Place the second piece of crust on top, sauce-side down, to create a sandwich
  3. Bake:

    • Place the assembled Stromboli on a baking sheet.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown and crispy.
  4. Serve:

    • Slice in half and enjoy!
